Is CGPA the same as percentage?

No. CGPA is a grade point average on a 10-point scale; percentage is a proportion of total marks. Conversion formulas are set by each university and differ between them, which is why the same CGPA converts differently at different institutions.

Which formula do employers accept?

The one printed on your official transcript or conversion certificate. If an employer questions your figure, the examination section of your university can issue a formal conversion certificate.

How is CGPA calculated from grades?

Multiply each course grade point by that course’s credits, add those products, and divide by the total credits. Courses with more credits therefore weigh more heavily.

What percentage is first class?

Conventionally 60 percent and above is first class, and 75 percent and above is first class with distinction. Some universities set distinction at 70 percent, so check your own regulations.

Does a backlog affect CGPA?

Yes. A failed course usually carries zero grade points while still counting towards total credits, which drags the average down until it is cleared and the grade is revised.
