How these calculators work
Sarkari Tools runs 61 calculators. Every one shows the formula it applied and names the table or rule that formula came from, so you can check the answer rather than take it on trust.
Three commitments
- Every input changes the answer
- If a control is on screen, it feeds the calculation. A dropdown that does not alter the result is a bug, not a feature.
- Estimates are labelled as estimates
- Where a figure depends on a rate that is declared annually, on a cohort we cannot see, or on your specific policy document, the tool says so instead of presenting a guess as a fact.
- Nothing silently falls back
- If a calculator is unavailable, the page says so. It does not quietly show you a different calculator’s results.
Where the numbers come from
Government pay and pension
The 7th CPC pay matrix is generated from each level’s entry pay by the Commission’s own rule — successive cells 3% higher, rounded to the nearest hundred — which reproduces the published table. Promotion fixation follows FR 22(I)(a)(1). Commutation factors come from the CCS (Commutation of Pension) Rules table, read by age at next birthday.
Allowances
HRA steps at 24/27/30% for X class, 16/18/20% for Y and 8/9/10% for Z as DA crosses 25% and 50%. Transport allowance is banded by pay level. CGHS contributions follow the standard level slabs.
Astrology
Planetary positions are computed astronomically: Sun and Moon from Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms; the five visible planets from the JPL approximate Keplerian elements. Sidereal positions use the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. Errors are a few arcminutes, far finer than a 30° sign. Interpretation follows classical Parashari and Jaimini rules, which are matters of tradition rather than science.
Engineering
Section weights use the published IS 808 tables for standard rolled sections, and fall back to a geometric calculation for non-standard sizes — clearly labelled either way, because the geometric formula ignores root radii and reads about 2% light. Concrete quantities use IS 456 nominal mixes.
Examinations
GATE uses the official normalisation with the qualifying mark and the top-0.1% mean as inputs, since both change every year. CAT and MHT CET percentiles interpolate published score-to-percentile data and are shown as ranges. NDA eligibility applies the UPSC age window of 16½ to 19½ years at course commencement.
Business and tax
Pharma margins are computed on PTR and PTS as the trade quotes them, not on MRP. Marketplace economics include GST, commission, 0.5% TCS, 0.1% TDS under section 194-O and the effect of the return rate. TDS interest follows section 201(1A) and the 234E late-filing fee.
What these tools are not
They are not legal, tax, financial or medical advice. Pay, pension, court fee and tax rules change, differ by department and state, and turn on facts a calculator cannot see.
