Bankers Salary & 12th Bipartite Calculator: how it works

Public sector bank pay is set by bipartite settlement rather than a pay commission. The 12th settlement merged accumulated DA into basic and applied a load on top.

How bank pay revision works

Pay in public sector banks is negotiated between the Indian Banks’ Association and the employee unions, and settled roughly every five years. The 12th Bipartite Settlement took effect from November 2022.

Revision follows a standard pattern: dearness allowance accumulated up to the settlement date is merged into basic pay, and a percentage load is then applied to the merged figure. The merged factor for the 12th settlement was approximately 1.3038.

Components of bank pay

ComponentBasis
Basic payA stage in the scale for your cadre
Special allowanceA percentage of basic, around 16.4%
Dearness allowanceSlab-linked, revised quarterly
House rent allowance7.5 to 10.5 percent by centre

Stagnation increments

When you reach the top of your scale, further increments are granted as stagnation increments at fixed intervals. Their value differs by cadre, and they are counted separately from the regular scale.

Because they are added to basic before the merger factor applies, stagnation increments carry through a pay revision proportionally.
