Two questions matter: how many classes must you attend consecutively to reach the requirement, and how many can you afford to miss. Both have exact answers.

How many classes to attend to recover
If you are below the requirement, every future class you attend raises both the numerator and the denominator. Solving for the number needed gives:
Classes needed = ⌈(Target × Total − 100 × Attended) ÷ (100 − Target)⌉
- Assumes you attend every one of them with no further absence

How many you can afford to miss
If you are above the requirement, missing a class raises the denominator but not the numerator.
Classes you can miss = ⌊(100 × Attended − Target × Total) ÷ Target⌋
Why the requirement is enforced
Most Indian universities set 75 percent as the minimum to sit an examination, and some private universities set 80 or 85. The consequence of falling short is usually detention for that subject, meaning you repeat it, so the cost is a semester rather than a grade.
