Gann Square of 9 Price Calculator
Calculate intraday stock buy/sell levels, target prices, and stop loss using W.D. Gann Square of 9 algorithm.
| Angle | Level below price | Level above price |
|---|---|---|
| 45° | ₹24,461 | ₹24,539 |
| 90° | ₹24,422 | ₹24,578 |
| 135° | ₹24,383 | ₹24,618 |
| 180° | ₹24,344 | ₹24,657 |
| 225° | ₹24,305 | ₹24,696 |
| 270° | ₹24,266 | ₹24,735 |
| 315° | ₹24,227 | ₹24,775 |
| 360° | ₹24,188 | ₹24,814 |
How this is calculated
Level = (√price ± degrees/360)²
√24500.00 = 156.5248
The square of nine is a geometric construction, not a model of any market. It has no predictive validity that has been demonstrated under testing.
Gann Square of 9 Price Calculator: how it works
The Gann square of nine produces price levels by taking the square root of a price and adding fixed fractions. That is the entire method.
What the calculation does
Level = (√Price ± degrees ÷ 360)²
- 45° adds 0.125 to the square root
- 90° adds 0.25
- 180° adds 0.5
Taking the square root of the price, adding a fraction, and squaring the result generates a series of levels that widen as price rises. Traders using the technique treat these as potential support and resistance.
Worked example
Worked example · Price at 24,500
Given
- Current price: 24,500
Working
- 1√24,500 = 156.525
- 245° above: (156.525 + 0.125)² = 24,539
- 390° above: (156.525 + 0.25)² = 24,578
- 445° below: (156.525 − 0.125)² = 24,461
Levels at 24,461, 24,539 and 24,578
What this is not
Levels of this kind sometimes appear to work for a reason unrelated to Gann: enough traders watch round numbers and common technical levels that behaviour clusters around them. That is a self-fulfilling effect in the short term, not a property of the market.
If you use it anyway
- Position sizing and stop losses matter far more than entry levels.
- Never risk capital you need, and never trade on borrowed money.
- Derivatives magnify losses as readily as gains; the majority of retail derivative traders lose money.
- A SEBI-registered adviser can give advice tailored to your circumstances; a calculator cannot.
